Fea-Muntjak Muntiacus feae (Thomas & Doria, 1889)


English: Fea’s Muntjac; French: Muntjac de Fea; Burmese: Jee; Thai: Fan, E-keng.

Former distribution: Burma and western Thailand, Xizang (Tibet), Yunnan.
Present distribution: Western Thailand, southern Burma, southern Xizang (Tibet) and Yunnan in China?
Behaviour: See Indischer Muntjak
Population status: Endangered. No records about numbers.
Brief notes: Very little known.
Hunting methods: By natives with dogs and nets.
Remarks: The Fea’s Muntjac is protected by law, but habitat destruction in the mountainous evergreen forests, the increase of human populations and uncontrolled hunting will accelerate the decline of this species.
